"Childhood Imagination: Online Children and Youth Coloring and Drawing Competition

In the current digital era, it is important for us to focus on nurturing the creative thinking and artistic cultivation of children and youth. To achieve this, we are organizing an online children and youth coloring and drawing competition called “Childhood Imagination: Online Children and Youth Coloring and Drawing Competition.” The competition aims to provide a platform for children and youth to showcase themselves, unleash their creativity, foster parent-child interaction, and enhance family bonds. 

Registration Deadline: March 31, 2024 

Artwork Submission Deadline: April 10, 2024

Objectives:

  • Foster creativity and imagination
  • Enhance artistic cultivation and aesthetic ability
  • Promote parent-child interaction and family harmony
  • Provide a platform for showcasing and exchanging
  • Promote healthy development of online culture

Age Groups: 

  • Toddler Group: Suitable for children aged 3 to 6. This group aims to provide toddlers with an opportunity to experience the beauty of colors through coloring and drawing, fostering their creativity and imagination. 
  • Children’s Group: Suitable for children aged 7 to 12. This group encourages children to express their emotions and ideas through colors and lines, while also enhancing their drawing skills. 
  • Youth Group: Suitable for teenagers aged 13 to 18. This group allows teenagers to showcase their personality and talent through drawing, challenging themselves to reach higher artistic levels. 

Key Dates: 

Registration Period: From now until March 30, 2024, 23:59 

Artwork Submission Deadline: April 10, 2024, 23:59 (HKT). 

Competition Process: After the registration deadline, there will be an initial screening and evaluation of the artworks. The judging process will take place in late April 2024.Participants are kindly requested to be patient during this period. 

Announcement of Results: Once the judging process is completed, the list of winners will be announced on the competition’s official website and relevant social media platforms in early May 2024. Winners will also be notified through email. 

The association will inform the winners individually via WhatsApp to arrange for them to fill out the customized award form and make the payment. All customized awards will be shipped via SF Express within approximately 8-10 weeks after the award customization deadline, with the shipping fee to be paid upon delivery. Please ensure that the contact information provided during registration is accurate. 

Please note that for online competitions, artwork submissions must comply with the competition guidelines, including requirements for format, size, resolution, etc. Participants should prepare electronic versions of their artwork and follow the guidelines provided on the competition’s official website for submission. When submitting the artwork, please ensure that it is original and does not infringe upon the copyrights of others.

 

Competition Format  This competition will be conducted in an online coloring and drawing format. Participants are required to upload their works to the designated platform within the specified time frame. To ensure fairness and impartiality, the judging process will be conducted anonymously, meaning the artworks will be evaluated without revealing the participants’ identities.

Artwork Requirements

Creative Format: Participants can choose between coloring or freehand drawing for their creations. For coloring entries, both the original image and the completed work should be provided for comparison. 

Specifications: Specific requirements regarding artwork dimensions, resolution, and other details will be provided in the competition announcement to ensure optimal display quality. 

Artwork Guidelines

  • Artworks should revolve around the theme of “Childhood Dreams” and encourage participants to unleash their imagination and showcase childlike qualities. 
  • Any drawing tools and materials can be used for the artwork. The submission must be in a two-dimensional format, with no restrictions on orientation. Computer-generated drawings will not be accepted. 
  • Three-dimensional materials, glitter, or collage techniques are not allowed. 
  • Paper: Regular drawing paper is acceptable, while traditional Chinese painting works must be mounted on cardstock for submission (Oil paintings should be on canvas and not framed). 
  • Size: Artwork dimensions should be no smaller than A4 (297 x 210mm) and no larger than A3 (420 x 297mm). Entries that do not meet these size requirements will be disqualified. 

Judging Criteria

The judging process will comprehensively consider aspects such as creativity, skill level, and thematic relevance to ensure the selection of truly outstanding artworks. We will invite professional artists, educational experts, and representatives from the online community to form the judging panel, ensuring fairness and authority in the evaluation. 

The online judging criteria for coloring and drawing competitions will be divided as follows in percentage: 

Creativity (30%): The uniqueness and innovative thinking demonstrated in interpreting the theme. The judges will focus on whether participants can offer a distinctive interpretation and present creative ideas from different perspectives. 

Skill Level (30%): The skills and proficiency displayed by participants in the coloring and drawing process. This includes the reasonable use of colors, smoothness of lines, and overall composition. The skill level directly affects the overall presentation of the artwork. 

Completion (15%): Whether the artwork fully presents the theme and lacks obvious unfinished parts or defects. Participants need to ensure that their works are completed within the specified time frame and meet certain quality standards. 

Thematic Relevance (15%): Whether the artwork aligns with the competition theme and accurately conveys the spirit and meaning of the theme. The interpretation and presentation of the theme by participants will be an important basis for judging. 

Aesthetic Appeal (10%): The visual attractiveness of the artwork, including harmonious color combinations, smooth lines, and overall cleanliness. These factors will influence the overall impression of the artwork. 

During the judging process, the judges will score the entries according to the above criteria and corresponding percentages. The final score will be the sum of the scores from each criterion, determining the ranking and award status of the artworks. Participants are encouraged to take each criterion seriously and strive for a high standard in all aspects to achieve better results. We look forward to your impressive performances!

Event Process

  1. Registration Phase: Participants will register for the competition through the designated website and submit their personal information and a brief description of their artwork. 
  2. Submission of Artworks: Participants will upload their coloring or drawing artworks to the designated platform within the specified time frame. 
  3. Judging Panel Evaluation: The judging panel, consisting of professional artists, educational experts, and representatives from the online community, will evaluate the artworks and select the winners in each category. 
  4. The association will individually notify the winners via WhatsApp to arrange for the completion of the award customization form and payment. All customized awards will be delivered by SF Express, and the delivery will occur approximately 8-10 weeks after the award customization deadline.

Award Categories: 

For each theme and competition category, the following awards will be set based on the ranking of participants: (The number of winners for each award may be adjusted by the judging panel depending on the number and level of entries) 

  • Individual Awards: 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place, 4th Place,
  • Gold Award (approximately 10% of the total participants in the category) 
  • Silver Award (approximately 20% of the total participants in the category) 
  • Bronze Award (approximately 30% of the total participants in the category) 
  • Participation Award: Participants who did not receive any other awards 

There will be no school or group awards in this competition.

Other Terms and Conditions: 

  1. The content of the submitted artworks must be healthy and positive, and must not contain explicit, violent, pornographic, defamatory, or other inappropriate elements. 
  2. The organizer reserves the right to reject artworks that do not meet the competition requirements or have formatting errors. 
  3. Artworks must not contain any elements of commercial or political promotion. 
  4. In the event that a participant is disqualified, the registration fee will not be refunded. 
  5. The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. 
  6. Participants who are minors must obtain the consent of their parents or guardians and have them submit the artworks. 
  7. Participants and parents/guardians must understand and agree to the competition rules and regulations. Violations may result in disqualification. 
  8. Participants agree that the organizer retains the right to use and showcase the submitted photos and videos for educational and promotional purposes. 
  9. The organizer reserves the right to interpret and revise the competition rules without prior notice.
